BROWNIE RECIPE

As promised: Alissa´s recipe for Brownies:

  • Brownies
  • Ingredients

  • 1 pound unsalted butter
  • 1 pound plus 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 6 extra-large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chopped walnuts
Directions
Preheat the oven to 180⁰C.
Butter and flour a 12 x 18 x 1-inch baking sheet.
Melt together the butter, 1 pound of chocolate chips, and the unsweetened chocolate in a medium bowl over simmering water. Allow to cool slightly. In a large bowl, stir (do not beat) together the eggs, vanilla, and sugar. Stir the warm chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and allow to cool to room temperature.
Add 1 cup of flour, the baking powder, and salt to the cooled chocolate mixture. Toss the walnuts and 12 ounces of chocolate chips in a medium bowl with 1/4 cup of flour, then add them to the chocolate batter. Pour into the baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes, then rap the baking sheet against the oven shelf to force the air to escape from between the pan and the brownie dough. Bake for about 15 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

END OF YEAR: PORTFOLIO AND EVALUATION

The school year is about to end. This is our first year for everybody. Also for me!!! Although I have been teaching for a long time, it is the first year I teach this new curriculum.

You have done your portfolio as a way to sum up all the things we have done and learnt.

Could you please tell me what activities you prefered and why. Which ones you didn't like or had problems doing and why. What you missed or expected to have done....................

Feel free to make any sugestions.

Thank you very much for your help and cooperation in all our project. Specially with the poems and the Romeo and Juliet activity.

I'm looking forward to teaching you again another year

Whitney Houston

This weekend Whitney Houston was found dead. A tragic piece of news. She was a great singer. She adds up to the list of tragic singers that have died in difficult circumstances: Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson....

But her songs and her magic will never go away. This is one of my favourite songs

CHARLES DICKENS 200TH BIRTHDAY

TOMORROW, SEVENTH FEBRUARY IT IS CHARLES DICKENS 200TH BIRTHDAY.

These are some famous quotes from Dickens

“Accidents will occur in the best regulated families.”

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all doing direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”
-Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

“Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pound ought and six, result misery.” -Charles Dickens, David Copperfield, 1849

“We need never be ashamed of our tears.”
-Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
